This Privacy Policy explains how Personalist (“Personalist”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the Personalist mobile app and related website and services (together, the “Service”). Personalist is an AI-powered personal stylist that builds outfit recommendations from the clothes you already own.
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account details. Your email address and password when you register. Passwords are stored in hashed form by our authentication provider; we never see your plain-text password.
- Profile information. Your name, gender (used to tailor styling and try-on results), and preferences such as your city, preferred temperature unit, and notification settings.
- Wardrobe photos. Photos of your clothing that you upload from your camera or photo library so that we can identify and catalog your garments.
- Content you create. Messages you send to the AI stylist, trips you plan, outfits you save or mark as worn, and items you mark as favorites.
Information collected automatically
- Location. With your permission, your precise device location or your chosen city, used only to fetch local weather for weather-appropriate outfit recommendations.
- Usage data. How you use features - for example, the number of outfit generations, try-ons, videos, and trips in a billing period - which we use to enforce plan limits and improve the Service.
- Device and push tokens. If you enable notifications, a push token used to send you outfit reminders.
- Technical data. Basic information such as app version and error logs needed to operate and debug the Service.
Subscription and payment information
Subscriptions (Pro and Pro+) are processed through the Apple App Store, Google Play, and our subscription manager, RevenueCat. Your payment card details are handled directly by Apple or Google and are never collected or stored by Personalist. We receive only your subscription status and related identifiers needed to unlock paid features.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Create and manage your account.
- Analyze your wardrobe photos to identify garment attributes (such as category, color, material, and style) and to generate outfit recommendations.
- Generate AI try-on images and short videos that visualize outfits, and produce personalized styling tips, trip packing plans, and style-persona insights.
- Provide local weather information for weather-aware recommendations.
- Enforce plan limits, process subscriptions, and provide customer support.
- Send notifications you have opted into, such as daily outfit reminders.
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your wardrobe photos to train third-party AI models for advertising.
3. How Your Information Is Shared
We share data only with service providers who help us operate the Service, and only as needed to provide it. These providers include:
- Supabase - authentication, database, and secure storage of your profile, wardrobe data, and uploaded photos.
- Anthropic (Claude) - AI analysis of wardrobe photos, outfit generation, styling tips, and chat responses.
- FASHN - AI generation of virtual try-on images and videos.
- Open-Meteo - weather and geocoding lookups (we send only a city name or approximate coordinates).
- RevenueCat, Apple App Store, and Google Play - subscription management and payment processing.
- Expo - delivery of push notifications.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Personalist, our users, or others. If Personalist is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
4. Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Wardrobe photos and generated content remain until you delete them or close your account. When you delete an item or your account, we delete the associated data from our active systems within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with legal, accounting, or security obligations.
5. Your Rights and Choices
- Access and update. You can view and edit your profile, preferences, and wardrobe directly in the app.
- Deletion. You can delete individual wardrobe items at any time, and you may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.
- Permissions. You can grant or revoke camera, photo, location, and notification permissions in your device settings at any time.
- Marketing. You can disable outfit reminders and other notifications in the app or your device settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to access, correct, port, or erase your data and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@personalist.ai.
6. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls on stored data. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
8. International Users
Personalist and its service providers may process and store your information in countries other than your own. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to these countries, which may have data-protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the app. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
